BRIEF HISTORY OF DAVMAXSUN

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DAVMAXSUN COLLEGE OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY, OBUKPA
The college was conceived in the year 2014 after so many consultations and became functional and reality in the year 2015. Because of the distance and gap of founding fathers, Honourable Emmanuel Omeke and Mrs. Annastecia Omeke became men behind the mask. The sale of the first admission form started on May 19, 2015 and stopped on 21st August, 2015. A total of eighty-one students were admitted into year one and were distributed into various programmes as follows: fifty eight students went into our Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) while twenty three students went into our Junior Community Health Extension Worker (J-CHEW) that year. Now we have a total number of 171 students in CHEW and 51 students in J-CHEW.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
The main aims and objectives of establishing the school is not merely for money making venture. This is because after a serious cross-examination, we decided to establish the school so that we shall inject a very fresh blood into our health system in our various communities within Obukpa, Nsukka and beyond. To help train the wasting talented young ones to be more useful to themselves and the society at large. To help produce high quality community health workers in the state and Nigeria at large. Furthermore, to uphold the law prohibiting the environmental degradation. More so, to create a serious awareness on health for our rural dwellers.

VISION:
To surmount every Health Challenges and Obstacles. And to produce the best Health Workers in Nigeria. To tackle Health Challenges in our communities so as to avoid a repeat of what we experienced in 2014 at the wake of outbreak of Ebola epidemic when it was discovered nationwide that we do not have enough Community Health Extension Workers in our communities. To become a centre of Excellent in the training of primary Health care provider, providing quality leadership to drive the multi-sectoral health care system in Nigeria, and contribute significantly to health care need of the society.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
Within two years now, we have made a lot of achievements. More so, in the area of accreditation of the school. PRAISE THE LORD! It is a thing of joy to report that after a long and big struggle, the school is now accredited. More so, it is gratifying to note that 125 (one hundred and twenty-five) of our students have been indexed and have been issued with Standing Order, Curriculum, Logbook, Indexing Form and Indexing Barge. GLORY BE TO GOD! We have acquired about Thirty (30) plots of land for our permanent site. Again and again, within this short period under review, we have tried our best and constructed enough classrooms and a school Hall which can conveniently take Two Hundred (200) Students during our examinations. In the same direction, it is heart cheering to note that Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria has approved that we run more other Courses like Environmental Health Science, Medical Laboratory and Pharmacy Technicians.
